Virgin Radio host Chris Evans, 54, was left shocked earlier this week after having a surprising conversation with his wife Natasha. He jokingly admitted he thought she’d been “seeing someone behind his back” because he was that stunned at her revelation.

“Tash came out with a brilliant fun fact at the weekend,” he told his co-stars Rachel Horne and Vassos Alexander.

“She’s not looking them up, this is in general conversation.”

He revealed Natasha stated that open brick walls prevent damp.

“In the summer they let the heat in and the damp out because walls breathe and then we started plastering them and we all got a rise in damp!” Chris explained, while Rachel and Vassos seemed inquisitive.

“But I didn’t know that! How does my wife know that?” the radio DJ quizzed.

Other thoughts crossed his mind as he jokingly whispered: “Who’s she been talking to? Who’s she been seeing behind my back?”

“It’s so far away from her realm of conversation or interest, where did she pick that one up?”

Chris often speaks about his family life on-air, telling listeners all about his children and arguments he’d had with Tash the day before.

But recently, he touched on his relationship to ex-wife Billie Piper, in a rare admission about their three-year marriage.

The pair tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas in May 2001 after six months of dating, when he was 35 and she was 18.

“The first time that I heard the phrase conscious uncoupling was to do with Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin,” he told his co-stars, referring to when the actress and Coldplay frontman announced their break-up in a joint statement in 2014.

“And lots of people said at the time, ‘You’ve just split up, you’ve just dumped each other, why are you calling it conscious uncoupling?’

“And I thought, it’s just a fancy way of them sort of smoke screening the fact that they’ve ditched each other, but I didn’t realise that conscious uncoupling is a thing and there’s a book about it and it’s brilliant,” he expressed.

The former BBC DJ revealed that the book explains how to part company with someone amicably, and conscious uncoupling is “the best way to do it” if the couple still get on but no longer “love each other”.

He continued: “You might like them, but no longer love them, but if you like them and no longer love them, you will end up loving them again one day if you consciously uncouple.

“And if you love them, but no longer like them, you will end up liking them again if you consciously uncouple.”

He added: “I think that Billie and I, I think we unconsciously consciously uncoupled.

“So there’s maybe a book in there, it wouldn’t be very long, but anyway, it’s a thing!”

The Chris Evans Breakfast Show continues weekdays at 6:30am on Virgin Radio.
